About Pongour Waterfall

  • Location: Pongour Waterfall is located in Đức Trọng District, about 50 km south of Da Lat city, making it a popular day trip destination.
  • Height & Width: The waterfall cascades down 40 meters (131 feet) in height and stretches over 100 meters (328 feet) in width, creating a terraced waterfall that is stunningly unique.

Best Time to Visit

  • The rainy season (July to November) is when the waterfall is at its most majestic, as the water flow is stronger.
  • The dry season (December to May) offers better walking conditions, but the waterfall may not be as full.

Legend of Pongour

Local legend has it that a K’ho ethnic tribe chief named Kanai tamed wild animals like tigers and rhinos. After her death, the animals are said to have turned into the waterfall's rocks to honor her memory. This gives Pongour its nickname, “The Seven-Layered Falls of the Master of Beasts.”


How to Get There

  • By Motorbike/Car: The journey from Da Lat takes about 1.5 hours. The roads are scenic and well-maintained.
  • Entrance Fee: A small entrance fee (usually around 20,000–30,000 VND, or about $1 USD) is required.

  1. Hike to the Waterfall: A short trail leads to the base, where you can enjoy the view up close.
